Residential Recovery for Women and Mothers

The Amethyst Center is RiverValley’s 16-bed residential treatment program for women, in a house-like setting in Owensboro. It has room for up to six infants, so pregnant women and new mothers can keep their babies with them during treatment.

Women run into different obstacles in addiction and recovery, and the program was built around those: safety, childcare, and the company of other women and staff who understand.

Programming runs 20 hours a week: individual and group therapy, life skills, relapse prevention and wellness activities.

For mothers, the biggest obstacle to treatment is often being separated from their children. Here, infants stay with their mothers, and parenting skills are part of the work.

Treatment is trauma-informed and covers co-occurring mental health conditions and relationship problems, not just the substance use itself.

After the program, women can move to The Pearl House recovery home, outpatient services, or ROSES For Moms.
