Children’s Hospital
RiverValley Behavioral Health Children’s Hospital provides inpatient psychiatric care for children and teens ages 5 to 17 in Owensboro, Kentucky. It is an 80-bed, not-for-profit hospital with an on-site school, for young people who need more help than outpatient care can give.

Services we provide
Psychiatrists, therapists, nurses and support staff work as one team on each child’s treatment plan, whether the child arrived in acute crisis or was referred because outpatient care wasn’t enough.
Care includes individual, group and family therapy, medication evaluation and management, therapeutic activities, 24/7 nursing and crisis support, and behavioral intervention services. Every treatment plan is built around your child, not a diagnosis code.
The hospital’s Walk-In Clinic is open 24/7 for psychiatric assessments, no appointment needed. When inpatient care ends, we help families set up outpatient or telehealth care across our seven-county area.
We accept most insurance plans, Medicaid and Medicare, and offer sliding-scale fees based on ability to pay. Staff can go over the options with you before admission.
If your child is struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or something you can’t quite name yet, start with an assessment at the Walk-In Clinic. From there, the team will recommend inpatient care or point you to outpatient options.
