Outpatient Substance Use Treatment

Outpatient treatment lets you get addiction care while keeping your job, your home and your routine. People come to it straight from residential treatment, or as a first step when the problem is still early.

Individual counseling is one-on-one time with a licensed counselor on what drives your use and what to do instead, using approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing.

Group therapy puts you with people who have been where you are. Groups cover relapse prevention, triggers, relationships and building a life that supports recovery, and the accountability of a group is something individual sessions can’t supply.

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is for people who need more than weekly sessions but not residential care: several hours of programming on multiple days each week, using the Living in Balance curriculum, while you keep living at home.

Daytime and evening appointments are available at several locations, and some sessions can be done by telehealth. Any of these services can be combined with medication-assisted treatment (MAT).

What to Expect

Treatment starts with an ASAM assessment to set the level of care. Then you are matched with a counselor and scheduled for individual sessions, group sessions or both.

The plan is reviewed as you go. As things stabilize, sessions become less frequent without cutting you loose.
