The Amethyst Center
Residential Recovery for Mothers and Their Babies
The Amethyst Center is a residential substance use treatment program in Owensboro with room for 16 women and six infants, so mothers keep their newborns with them while getting round-the-clock support.

It is for women whose recovery needs more than outpatient care, and it is set up like a house rather than an institution.
Pregnant women can give birth during the program and come back with the baby; new mothers can bring infants born during their stay. Mother and baby stay together through the months that matter most for bonding.
Programming runs about 20 hours a week: group and individual counseling, nursing and psychiatric services, drug and alcohol education, life skills and parenting education, plus daily activities built around sober living and relapse prevention.
Case managers work on the practical obstacles: a job, housing, transportation, childcare and relationships. The program can last up to nine months.
Many women step down from the Amethyst Center into ROSES For Moms for continued therapy, peer support and family navigation. The same organization runs both, so the move doesn’t mean starting over.

What to Expect
Admission starts with a clinical assessment to confirm residential care is the right fit. If you are pregnant or have a newborn, the team coordinates with your OB/GYN and pediatrician so medical care continues through your stay.
Residents live on site and follow a daily schedule of group sessions, individual counseling, education and personal time. When you are ready, the team plans the next step with you: ROSES For Moms, The Pearl House, or living independently with outpatient support.
