The Phoenix Center: Residential Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)

Open 24 hours

The Phoenix Center is an 8-bed residential crisis stabilization unit at the RiverValley Center in Owensboro, staffed 24 hours a day. It gives adults in crisis short-term, intensive support in a setting less restrictive than a hospital.

Admission is voluntary. The program is for adults 18 and older who can manage day to day but need structured support through a mental health or substance use crisis.

What to Expect

Admission

A pre-admission consultation checks that the program fits: more support than outpatient care, but not a hospital.

During Your Stay

  • Individual, group, and family therapy sessions
  • Psychiatric evaluation and a recovery plan
  • Skill-building activities and psychoeducation
  • Collaboration with your existing providers and support system
  • Clinical staff and peer support specialists on site around the clock

Discharge & Aftercare

The aim is to get through the crisis and back to daily life quickly. Before discharge, the team sets up follow-up care and a plan for the next crisis.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call (800) 433-7291 or 988 any time, day or night.
